A Message from Fr. Lew
This past summer, I planned my own funeral and purchased my casket. It was not at all a morbid exercise; it was just a statement of my faith in Christ and in the resurrection. When I mentioned this at a coffee hour, several people asked, "You mean that is something we can do ahead of time?" I said "Absolutely" and that got me to thinking--why not show others how to do what I did.
With this in mind, the parish has planned an evening workshop entitled "A Holy Undertaking: Preparing an Episcopal Funeral—How to Express Your Wishes". It will be Thursday evening, November 17th at 7:00 p.m. It will be an hour and fifteen-minute workshop designed to help you express your own wishes for your funeral when that time comes.
Each participant will receive a workbook entitled "Preparing an Episcopal Funeral". This workbook is provided at no cost to you by the parish. You may have readings that are particularly meaningful to you or hymns that you would like at your funeral. The book shows you how to let your family know those things that only you might know. The book has forms that show you what vital information your family or representatives will need, and forms for planning your funeral services.
We will have three presenters:
So we can order enough books, I need you to pre-register for the workshop by November 2. Just click the button below, or go to our website and click on the image like the one above.

We will have three presenters:
- I will talk about the options for funeral rite in the Book of Common Prayer--what, how and where.
- Jill Lynch, a member of our parish and a retired lawyer, will briefly talk about some legal matters you might want to consider; and
- Randy Weaver, from Nordman Funeral Home, will briefly talk about information that is needed by funeral homes regarding family wishes and State requirements.
So we can order enough books, I need you to pre-register for the workshop by November 2. Just click the button below, or go to our website and click on the image like the one above.
