Funerals
We at St. James understand one of the most difficult times in a person’s life is the passing of a loved one; the challenges, difficulties, and loss. During this time, let us help you organize and plan a memorial service while our clergy ministers assist you during this difficult and stressful period. No one should face this time alone, and we are here to assist you. .

St. James encourages parishioners to pre-plan their own funeral arrangements or those of a loved one by reading through Preparing an Episcopal Funeral . This booklet is a practical handbook for all church members.  It offers guidelines for those planning their own funeral, families engaged in funeral planning for a loved one, and all who seek a concise, pastoral guide for dealing with their own grief and the grief of those they love.

Preparing an Episcopal Funeral contains articles that explore the stages of grief, appropriate practices for Episcopal funerals, how to prepare funerals for children, end-of-life-care, tips for comforting others and the use of technology and social media.  The 56 page booklet also contains simple forms for recording vital information for survivors, personal representatives, funeral homes, clergy and the parish.  It also offers help in planning the funeral or memorial service such as the choice of reading, songs, and prayers.

Your completed service planning document can be kept on file at the Church.
