Ministration to the Sick
At the heart of our life as a faith community lies the commitment and responsibility to care for, support, and encourage one another, especially in times of crisis and difficulty. At St. James, we want you to know how you can get help when you or your family are dealing with serious life changes or challenges. Clergy on Call: Our parish priest is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you are experiencing an emergency and need someone to be with you during a difficult time, please call 231-818-9262. Anointing of the Sick: Anointing of the Sick is one of the sacramental rites of the Church. In the Letter of James we read " If anyone among you is sick, let them call for the elders of the Church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord." [James 5:14]. If you are having surgery or are seriously ill, you may be anointed. You do not need to be in danger of death to be anointed. This sacrament is intended to bring the comfort and solace of the Lord to sustain you in your need. To make arrangements to be anointed please call the Church at 231-627-6011 or email. In an emergency call 231-818-9262 at any time. Hospital Visits: If you are in the hospital and would like our priest to visit you, please call the parish office at 231-627-6011 to arrange a visit or call Fr. Lew directly at 231-818-9262. In-home Communion: We know that some of our disables or elderly members can not always make it to Church. Each week Eucharistic Visitors make house calls to bring Communion. If you would like to receive Communion at home contact Fr. Lew Crusoe to schedule a visit. Prayer Shawls: Members of the Church knit prayer shawls to be given to anyone who us struggling physically, spiritually, or emotional. To request a prayer shawl for yourself or someone else please contact the parish office at 231-627-6011. Prayer Requests: We have a parish prayer list that is published in each Wednesday by email. If you would like your name or the name of someone else (with their permission) added to our prayer list, please complete the request HERE or call Fr. Lew at 231-818-9262. |
