Repairing the Breach: A Conversation about Racial Reconciliation

Join us for a special noontime gathering with Martha Wickett, one of our summer parishioners and a member of Repair the Breach NOLA, a New Orleans faith-based organization working to address racial injustice and the continuing racial wealth gap.

Martha will introduce us to the work of Repair the Breach NOLA and explore the history and continuing effects of racial inequality, the meaning of reparatory justice, and the role faith communities can play in the work of truth-telling, reconciliation, and repair.
Repair the Breach NOLA brings together people from different faith communities who believe that racial reconciliation calls us not only to learn about the past, but also to consider how we can respond faithfully in the present.

Together we serve our neighbors with care.
On the last Sunday of each month, we gather laundry soap and other supplies for The Lord’s Kitchen’s laundry ministry — a tradition we call “Soap Sunday.” This simple act helps preserve dignity and meets a real need in our community.
Guided by Jesus’ call in Matthew 25 to care for “the least of these,” we tithe on our Sunday offerings, giving about $7,000 each year to local organizations. Over the past decade, this has allowed us to contribute nearly $90,000 to charities that serve our neighbors in need.
