Welcome to
St James Episcopal Church

All are welcome, and all means all.
Here, every story matters, and every soul has a home.
We’re a small church with a big heart, tucked into the beauty of Northern Lower Michigan.
Here, we believe what Jesus taught—that every single person is God’s beloved, without exception.
At St. James, you’ll find people striving, in imperfect but joyful ways, to live out Christ’s call: to love without limits, to seek peace and justice, to honor the dignity of every person, and to care for God’s creation.
Whether you’re exploring faith for the first time or have walked this road for years, you are welcome here.
Take your time looking around, and when you’re ready,
come and see for yourself the warmth, friendship, and hope that fill our little parish.

The Blessing of the Animals
In honor of St Francis of Assisi
In Washington Park in Downtown Cheboygan
Bring your pets—great and small. This joyful tradition celebrates God’s gift of creation and the love we share with our animal companions. All are welcome, whether your pet barks, purrs, chirps, scurries, or even wiggles!

For the comfort of all, please keep pets leashed or safely contained. If your animal friend can’t attend, feel free to bring a photo, and they will be included in the blessing. Children are especially welcome to participate and give thanks for the pets they love.

Come share in this celebration of life, love, and God’s creatures!

LEARN WITH US
We explore faith with open hearts and minds.
Together we walk the way of love.
SERVE WITH US
We share God's love in the community.
Together we serve our neighbors with care.

On the last Sunday of each month, we gather laundry soap and other supplies for The Lord’s Kitchen’s laundry ministry — a tradition we call “Soap Sunday.” This simple act helps preserve dignity and meets a real need in our community.
Guided by Jesus’ call in Matthew 25 to care for “the least of these,” we tithe on our Sunday offerings, giving about $7,000 each year to local organizations. Over the past decade, this has allowed us to contribute nearly $70,000 to charities that serve our neighbors in need.
