MARRIAGE
Preliminary Arrangements
At St. James Episcopal Church, we believe marriage is a sacred covenant, a public witness of love and faithfulness, and a lifelong commitment undertaken with God’s blessing. Whether for longtime members or those new to our community, we welcome couples — including same-sex couples — to explore celebrating their marriage in our parish.
Scheduling & Preparation
Only the Rector or Priest-in-Charge can schedule a wedding at St. James. We require at least 90 days’ notice. Please meet with the priest before setting a date or booking reception venues. This meeting will cover your wedding date, the pre-marital counseling process, and other important details.
We do not schedule weddings during these times:
-
Thanksgiving weekend
-
The Twelve Days of Christmas
-
Easter weekend
-
Memorial Day weekend
-
Labor Day weekend
-
Fourth of July weekend
-
The season of Lent (dates vary each year)

Who May Be Married Here
-
At least one member of the couple must be an active, baptized member of St. James, or the child of an active member (active = regular worship attendance and financial support for at least one year).
-
Members of other Episcopal churches are welcome to inquire; clergy from those parishes may assist, but St. James clergy must be present.
-
Non-local couples must complete pre-marital counseling with an Episcopal priest or certified counselor in their own area, with a report provided to our priest.

Fees
For non-members: $500
(refundable up to six months before the wedding);
50% refund up to three months before;
no refund after that).
If renting the church for use by another congregation or clergy: $400,
and the same refund policy applies.
