MINISTRATION TO THE SICK & ANOINTING

Ministration to the Sick

At the heart of our life together at St. James is a shared commitment to care for one another—especially in times of illness, crisis, or life transitions. If you or a loved one is facing a health challenge or experiencing a difficult season, we are here to offer prayer, presence, and pastoral care.

Clergy On Call

Our priest, Fr. Lewis D. Crusoe, is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you are experiencing a pastoral emergency and need someone to be with you, please call 231-818-9262 at any time.

Anointing of the Sick

The Anointing of the Sick is one of the sacramental rites of the Church. As we read in the Letter of James: “Are any among you sick? Let them call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord.” (James 5:14)

If you are preparing for surgery, undergoing treatment, or facing serious illness, you may receive this sacrament. You do not need to be near death. The anointing is offered to bring the comfort, healing, and peace of Christ during times of physical or emotional difficulty.

To request anointing, please call the church office at 231-627-6011 or email us. For emergencies, call 231-818-9262 at any time.

In-Home Communion

We recognize that some of our elderly or homebound members may not be able to attend worship in person. Each week, trained Eucharistic Visitors bring Holy Communion to those who wish to receive it at home.

To schedule an in-home Communion visit, please contact Fr. Lew Crusoe.

Prayer Shawls

Members of St. James knit prayer shawls as tangible signs of care and prayer for those who are struggling physically, spiritually, or emotionally. If you would like to request a shawl for yourself or someone else, please contact the parish office at 231-627-6011.
